During MWC (feb. 22-25) The Eye Tribe will demonstrate our new mobile eye tracking solution for Virtual Reality, which provide higher performance for mobile VR headsets by enabling so-called foveated rendering. Eye Tracking also provides easier and intuitive control in combination with gestures and voice control. The Eye Tribe now offers a solution for integrating eye tracking into smartphone based VR headsets, like the popular Gear VR.
Eye Tracking will become standard functionality in VR Headsets, since it can enable higher performance of VR headsets with features like foveated rendering. Foveated rendering works by only rendering the specific part of the screen, where the user is currently looking. Foveated rendering will lower processing load and increase battery time significantly, allowing mobile OEMs to increase screen resolutions and refresh rates for their mobile VR solutions, while avoiding draining the battery.
The Eye Tribe’s new software also offers a patent pending eye biometric authentication method, which enable effortless eye-based authentication with anti-spoofing. The new solution includes support for Face and Iris recognition solutions to provide effortless two-factor authentication.
The Eye Tribe’s VR eye tracking solution has been developed to offer market leading performance with high accuracy, low power consumption and frame rates up to 300 Hz. It is utilizing standard components for easy and affordable OEM integration. We have successfully integrated our eye tracking technology into the leading VR headsets for both Android, Windows and Linux platforms – e.g. Oculus Rift DK 2, HTC Vive & Samsung Gear VR. OEM customers can now purchase an early access Evaluation Kit for prototyping or initial integration work.

]]>During CES 2016 (Jan. 6-9) The Eye Tribe will demonstrate our new super fast and highly accurate eye tracking solution for Virtual Reality, which provide higher performance of VR headsets by enabling foveated rendering. Please see below for a short video demonstration of foveated rendering. Our solution will also offer a patent pending eye biometric authentication method, which will allow for effortless authentification of the user and support for Iris recognition.
The Eye Tribe’s VR solution has been developed to offer market leading performance with high accuracy and frame rates up to 300 Hz, thereby enabling foveated rendering, a critical functionality in 2nd generation VR headsets. Foveated rendering works by only rendering the specific part of the screen, where the user is currently looking. Foveated rendering will lower GPU load and power consumption significantly, allowing headset manufacturers to increase screen resolutions and refresh rates, while mobile headsets will be able to avoid battery drain.
We have successfully integrated eye tracking into the leading VR headsets for both Windows and Android platforms – e.g. Oculus Rift DK 2, HTC Vive & Gear VR. OEM customers can purchase an early access Software Evaluation Kit currently available for prototyping or initial integration work.

]]>The Eye Tribe Tracker started shipping at CES last year for the Windows platform, and soon after for OS X. We wanted to enable affordable eye tracking quickly to a large crowd of developers, and succeeded with this by shipping out thousands of development kit all around the world.
Today we are thrilled to enable The Eye Tribe Tracker for Android, making it truly mobile thereby enabling mobile OEMs and developers on the Android platform to create new experiences and products for the consumer market. During CES 2015, which runs Jan. 6-9, The Eye Tribe will demonstrate its Eye Tracking SDK for Android that provides a first step towards integration of robust and affordable eye tracking into mobile devices.
We’re extremely excited to be back at CES and show how quickly we’ve advanced our products for mobile form factors. With our solution OEMs can fast-track integration of real eye tracking. We want to bust the myth that it is an expensive and complicated affair.
Visit The Eye Tribe at CES 2015 at the Sands in booth #72040 and at ShowStoppers Jan. 6 at table #A46.
The Eye Tribe’s software solution is designed intentionally for integration and is based on industry standards (MIPI, I2C, USB). The Eye Tribe eye tracking software now offers support for Android, Windows, and OS/X, in addition to hardware reference designs for popular form factors. Because The Eye Tribe software relies only on standard affordable components that are easily integrated into next generation devices, the company is able to help OEMs fast track strategies to move new products to mass market consumers featuring robust eye tracking functions at an affordable price.
