Yes, those two major problems (jittery calibration and cycling) seem to have been resolved for me.

Haven't heard much feedback on the v0.9.48 release we did on Nov 21st. We tested and fixed on two Mac Minis and two Macbook Pros (all running Yosemite).

Did this release fix the Yosemite related issues you had?

It's a little better- esp on my Mac Pros that don't have built-in camera. On my laptop still problematic, I can sometimes get it to work if I play around w/ loading something that 'occupies' the built-in camera.

Would be really great to get this working.

Issues on Yosemite acknowledged, we have tested against OS X 10.8 and 10.9 so far. Hope we can make it robust for 10.10 with next release. Meanwhile, try the new 0.9.46 which fixes a number of bugs.

Btw, the firmware upgrade message is a false positive most likely related to the initialization failure.

I'm experiencing the same issue, making the device useless. Has anyone made any progress on this?

After many attempts, I finally received a message indicating that a firmware update is required... but I can't find any information about how to update the firmware, or even where to download it.

Sorry to self-reply but 1) sort of troubled no response from anyone who is 'in the know' here (eg- someone from 'the eye tribe' perhaps?)

and 2) I'm pretty sure that the trouble might have to do with the fact that the camera-bar is telling the OS that it is a Camera. On one of my lab machines, I have a tandberg webcam, + the eye tribe bar. The 'cameras' tab in the system report says:

Note that, I also have plugged in my Leap (which = 2 IR cameras) and it does not show up as a camera to the OS. Launching into Windows, it too sees the camera bar as a web cam, but apparently the OS isn't as 'grabby' as Mac OS.

Launching various camera-based apps (FaceTime, Photo Booth, etc) and the Eye Tribe camera bar appears as a selectable input device (yet, creates some really crappy images : )

When the ET server finally can connect to the bar I'm betting that there is some sort of 'competition' for the camera and the usbmux / whatever is controlling the USB cameras on the Mac 'wins', disconnecting it, and thus the cycling we see above.

Note however, that, if I go to FaceTime and set the camera to TheEyeTribe, I'm able to get the EyeTribe server to stop cycling:

Based on my experimenting, however, I think there's something up with the fact that MacOS recognizes it as a UVC camera and, by default, it is setting the auto gain correction and auto white level on. For example, if I -get- the server started and actually use the tracker bar, every time I blink the 'status' window turns red (e.g. no face found) and slooowwwwly goes back to green, over the course of 2-3 seconds. There's something up there with what the server is doing with the camera data.

Yosemite GM - cycling disconnect/reconnect

I'm having mixed results running 0.9.41 on Mac OS X 10.10 GM1

The general behavior is either:

If I start the UI, the Server will start but will constantly disconnect/reconnect when talking to the UI. Quitting the UI stops the connecting and reconnecting.
If I start the Server manually (as root or not) same thing.
If I plug/unplug the Server goes through the trouble of re-connecting but then I get:

Sometimes, usually after a reboot, it will not cycle and I can get data. Usually I can't.
