Could you start the server manually before launching the UI?

The UI will attempt to autostart the server if it detects that it isn't running.

I am attempting to run the application on a USB drive (can't install on a school computer), but it is not working. When I try to run the server, it is looking for the application in my applications folder, which is not where it exists, and I get a "no such file or directory error". Is there any workaround for this?
