I don’t know about anyone else, but I haven’t needed to touch any buttons on my monitor for probably a year.

Maybe people can just buy one of those flexible mini tripods, and then wrap it around a heavier object.

This one is only five bucks. Others are even cheaper.

Edit: I just grab one of those tripods (gorilla pod imitation?) From a Hong Kong shipper on Amazon. It was only four bucks.

I haven’t tested it yet, because the standard tripod is currently fine for me.

Acknowledged, we're working on providing alternative mounting options. Either a better tripod or a clamp-on screen mount. One problem being that some displays have buttons on the front. Not all displays have a VESA compatible mount holes on the back. Any ideas you might have will be taken into consideration.

I agree, tripod is completely unstable and you need to find another solution for tracker placement (as for me kind of universal tracker holder for LCD monitor).

The problem is that it is not possible to rotate the notch (see picture) with respect to the configuration of the legs.

In order to tilt the sensor backwards (towards the monitor), the single leg must be between the sensor and the user. This leads to tipping, because the other two legs become aligned with the monitor.

The single leg must be between the sensor and the monitor (to provide support against tipping over), but the inability to move the notch makes this impossible.

Does it help if the tripod is rotated the other way so that the legs are facing backwards? So that the weight of the cable is distributed on two legs instead of one. USB3.0 cables are fairly thick due to the increased number of wires and insulation thereof.

The good news is that we have a couple of mounting options planned that trade flexibility for stability (e.g. specific mounts for tablets, laptops etc.) The bad news is that we don't have them ready just yet. Meanwhile, screw thread is a standard tripod diameter so any photographic tripod you might have laying around could be an alternative.

A note about the tripod. It is not a viable solution for placement of the tracker, as the bulky cable pulls it downwards on the left side, and it tips over:

The tracker needs a heavy base with lead, like that in the following inexpensive lamp:

If the tracker can be placed on top of the monitor, then double-sided tape will do as well.

Extending the legs of the tripod does not help. The tracker blocks the monitor.
