Hm... new message now; the server suddenly refuses to start up again and dmesg just has this:

For me it had been worked for some time — 10-20 seconds, but not the UI tells me "A firmware updated is required", and gives me that in terminal:

Well, it looks like I was a bit too early with my previous report... it still can crash here on first invocation; with the same (or a similar) segfault.

So at first start, it doesn't crash here -- definitely an improvement!

The timestamp field is still horribly wrong It looks like the timestamp value is generated as a readable representation of the same number that is behind the time value -- so it no longer serves it's intended purpose, I think. Should be very easy to fix, I hope.

Also, there is a lot of jitter in the reported (and actual) time between frames: The average update frequency is not 30Hz but something like 26.7 Hz (on my system), averaged over 30 samples. And the inter-frame interval (purely as reported by time) varies a lot; I've seen values as low as 29 mS and as high as 54 mS, but most are in the interval 31mS to 45mS or so.

For now, it is it thus rather difficult to synchronise with other equipment or any presentations.

Hope this can be fixed also?

We have just released a new version of The Eye Tribe Tracker for OSX, v0.9.41, see release notes here: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=308

Please try this new version and let us know if it solves some of the issues some of you guys are experiencing.

0.9.40 "sort of runs here"... but

The 0.9.40 "sort of" runs here, although not terribly stable. I'm on a MacBook Pro 13" (2012 model, I think).

The server crashes every time it is started up, but on the following (manual) restarts it seems to work -- most of the time.

The first crash usually just reports:

The UI part often crashes if you let it run for a few minutes -- I have not looked for log files from it, though.

Then a question: The "timestamp" field seems to be from past times Mine is not in sync with anything I can dream up (dating back to somewhere in 1970), so I guess there is a small bug there also recording the real machine timestamp?

Macbook Pro 15" Retina Mid-2012. OSX 10.9.4

Could this be a port problem? Some other problem using the same port?

Tell me if I can do anything to help. Maybe send us a debug version so we can backtrace the problem?

mcallahan1, we found the issue last week and it has already been fixed, along with some other bugs on the OSX version.

We are now running QA on the new builds, we expect to release a new version in a couple of days.

it looks like the property 'activeVideoMaxFrameDuration' does not exist until OSX 10.9.

Dear EyeTribe, please add the following to prevent crashing during initialization:

if ([device respondsToSelector:@selector(setActiveVideoMaxFrameDuration:)]) {
[device setActiveVideoMaxFrameDuration:30];
}

AND REBUILD THE OSX FILE

Can't get server to run either. OS-X 10.9.4 on a Macbook Pro. I get the message "[10:05:38.792] ERR: Could not initialize The Eye Tribe Tracker!" Followed everything as per instructions to no avail.

I just got the same problem, the calibration doesn't run for me either.

royshessels, the issue you mention is due to lack of support for specific methods on 10.8.x that are supported on 10.9.x. We're looking into ways to fix this for the next release.
