Well, it looks like I was a bit too early with my previous report... it still can crash here on first invocation; with the same (or a similar) segfault.
Statistics: Posted by skatapgba@dtu.dk — 15 Aug 2014, 09:34

So at first start, it doesn't crash here -- definitely an improvement!

The timestamp field is still horribly wrong It looks like the timestamp value is generated as a readable representation of the same number that is behind the time value -- so it no longer serves it's intended purpose, I think. Should be very easy to fix, I hope.

Also, there is a lot of jitter in the reported (and actual) time between frames: The average update frequency is not 30Hz but something like 26.7 Hz (on my system), averaged over 30 samples. And the inter-frame interval (purely as reported by time) varies a lot; I've seen values as low as 29 mS and as high as 54 mS, but most are in the interval 31mS to 45mS or so.

For now, it is it thus rather difficult to synchronise with other equipment or any presentations.

Hope this can be fixed also?
Statistics: Posted by skatapgba@dtu.dk — 14 Aug 2014, 16:20

Maybe send us a debug version so we can backtrace the problem?

Terminal:

Code:

**************************************
** The EYE TRIBE TRACKER Server **
**************************************
Version: 0.9.40

[02:39:05.196] INF: Initializing environment
[02:39:05.196] INF: Constructing logfile:
/Users/bpetit/eyetribe/logs/20140811123322_2183662063138655535.log

Settings applied:
TCP port: 6555
Connections: local only
Framerate: 30

[02:39:05.209] INF: Initializing the Eye Tribe Server
Segmentation fault: 11

LLDB:

Code:

BenBeamArtMBPR:~ bpetit$ lldb /Applications/EyeTribe/EyeTribe
2014-08-11 12:38:45.145 xcodebuild[27763:d07] [MT] PluginLoading: Required plug-in compatibility UUID A2E4D43F-41F4-4FB9-BB94-7177011C9AED for plug-in at path '~/Library/Application Support/Developer/Shared/Xcode/Plug-ins/OFPlugin.xcplugin' not present in DVTPlugInCompatibilityUUIDs
Current executable set to '/Applications/EyeTribe/EyeTribe' (x86_64).
(lldb) r
Process 27768 launched: '/Applications/EyeTribe/EyeTribe' (x86_64)

**************************************
** The EYE TRIBE TRACKER Server **
**************************************
Version: 0.9.40

[02:44:36.215] INF: Initializing environment
[02:44:36.216] INF: Constructing logfile:
/Users/bpetit/eyetribe/logs/20140811123853_2183662063138655535.log

Settings applied:
TCP port: 6555
Connections: local only
Framerate: 30

[02:44:36.253] INF: Initializing the Eye Tribe Server
Process 27768 stopped
* thread #1: tid = 0x12f6c2, 0x00007fff86b3a732 libsystem_c.dylib`strlen + 18, queue = 'com.apple.main-thread', stop reason = EXC_BAD_ACCESS (code=1, address=0x0)
frame #0: 0x00007fff86b3a732 libsystem_c.dylib`strlen + 18
libsystem_c.dylib`strlen + 18:
-> 0x7fff86b3a732:  pcmpeqb (%rdi), %xmm0
0x7fff86b3a736:  pmovmskb %xmm0, %esi
0x7fff86b3a73a:  andq   $0xf, %rcx
0x7fff86b3a73e:  orq    $-0x1, %rax

(lldb) bt
* thread #1: tid = 0x12fa17, 0x00007fff86b3a732 libsystem_c.dylib`strlen + 18, queue = 'com.apple.main-thread', stop reason = EXC_BAD_ACCESS (code=1, address=0x0)
* frame #0: 0x00007fff86b3a732 libsystem_c.dylib`strlen + 18
frame #1: 0x0000000100034b74 EyeTribe`___lldb_unnamed_function211$$EyeTribe + 756
frame #2: 0x00000001000291d5 EyeTribe`___lldb_unnamed_function109$$EyeTribe + 133
frame #3: 0x000000010003769e EyeTribe`___lldb_unnamed_function243$$EyeTribe + 494
frame #4: 0x0000000100072b77 EyeTribe`___lldb_unnamed_function555$$EyeTribe + 3287
frame #5: 0x0000000100022128 EyeTribe`___lldb_unnamed_function100$$EyeTribe + 824
frame #6: 0x000000010001bf87 EyeTribe`___lldb_unnamed_function91$$EyeTribe + 12679

Log:

Code:

2014-08-11 12:27:31.277|2183662063138655535|I|Creating new log file
2014-08-11 12:27:31.294|2183662063138655535|I|Initializing environment
2014-08-11 12:27:31.294|2183662063138655535|I|Detecting primary screen
2014-08-11 12:27:31.311|2183662063138655535|I|Initializing config system
2014-08-11 12:27:31.311|2183662063138655535|I|TCP port: 6555
2014-08-11 12:27:31.311|2183662063138655535|I|Connections: local only
2014-08-11 12:27:31.311|2183662063138655535|I|Framerate: 30
2014-08-11 12:27:31.311|2183662063138655535|I|Initializing the Eye Tribe Server (v0.9.40)
2014-08-11 12:27:31.311|2183662063138655535|I|Creating Tracker Manager
2014-08-11 12:27:31.312|2183662063138655535|I|Creating Camera Manager

Statistics: Posted by skatacontact@beamart.fr — 11 Aug 2014, 12:41

mcallahan1, we found the issue last week and it has already been fixed, along with some other bugs on the OSX version.

We are now running QA on the new builds, we expect to release a new version in a couple of days.
Statistics: Posted by skataJavier — 11 Aug 2014, 10:41

it looks like the property 'activeVideoMaxFrameDuration' does not exist until OSX 10.9.

Dear EyeTribe, please add the following to prevent crashing during initialization:

if ([device respondsToSelector:@selector(setActiveVideoMaxFrameDuration:)]) {
[device setActiveVideoMaxFrameDuration:30];
}

AND REBUILD THE OSX FILE
Statistics: Posted by skatamcallahan1@gmail.com — 11 Aug 2014, 00:19

royshessels, the issue you mention is due to lack of support for specific methods on 10.8.x that are supported on 10.9.x. We're looking into ways to fix this for the next release.
Statistics: Posted by skataJavier — 06 Aug 2014, 11:36
