Firmware update on OS X

Postby sunfish7 » 01 Dec 2015, 15:52

My EyeTribe disconnects itself randomly, so I would like to see whether a firmware upgrade sorts it out.

How to update the firmware (from an OSX machine)?

I purchased my unit in May 2014:

Code: Select all
[15:58:05.766] INF: Eye Tribe Tracker firmware revision is 293

Is there any benefit of updating?

Looking through forum posts, it appears a few glitches have been ironed out since then. It looks as though the device operates very close to the USB Power limit -- will more recent firmware reduce power consumption?

PS I don't have easy access to a Windows system; I would have to choose between VirtualBox and begging a favour from a friend.

Hi

The newer firmware does not reduce power consumption but improves robustness for some usb controllers.
The actual power consumption is around 780mA for the USB3.0 device in 30hz mode.

Currently the flashing tool is only available on Windows. I've sent you a link to the software.
