Hi,
Just got my EyeTribe working on Windows 7Pro.
The server now says I need to update my firmware to revision 202 (it also says the current revision in the Eye Tribe is 293 - but odd: downgrade?).
Anyway.
Browsing through the forum I see that you need to receive a PM to download the firmware tool?
Please send me the link so I can use the tracker.
Thanks!
Marco

Hi Marco,
Are you using version 0.9.56 of the SDK? It accepts both firmware versions, it's only with older versions of the server that the firmware version is restricted.
What is the exact message in the server console?

Hi,
This is what the server says after a fresh reboot:
**************************************
** The EYE TRIBE TRACKER Server **
**************************************
Version: 0.9.56
Settings applied:
TCP port: 6555
Connections: local only
Framerate: 30
[09:28:19.130] INF: Initializing the Eye Tribe Server
[09:28:19.295] INF: Eye Tribe Tracker firmware revision is 293
[09:28:19.296] INF: Accessing Tracker device
The Eye Tribe Tracker stands ready!
[09:28:21.392] INF: Default calibration profile loaded!
*************************
Then after a minute or two the connection suddenly drops. Then after a few seconds it's connected again.
This happens a few times.
Then the server says:
The Eye Tribe Tracker stands ready!
[09:28:21.392] INF: Default calibration profile loaded!
The Eye Tribe Tracker has been disconnected!
[09:32:00.514] INF: Eye Tribe Tracker firmware revision is 293
[09:32:00.516] INF: Accessing Tracker device
The Eye Tribe Tracker stands ready!
The Eye Tribe Tracker has been disconnected!
[09:32:11.460] ERR: The Eye Tribe Tracker is not supported!
The tracker device has been connected but is not working
*******************************************************************
And the UI program says:
"A firmware updated is required"
And it stops working.
A full reboot of my PC does help.
I've tried several USB3 ports and is doesn't matter. The sequence of events stays roughly the same.
I've got no other issues with the USB3 ports or Windows 7 Pro in particular.
The EyeTribe software is the latest (downloaded yesterday).
Any ideas why it keeps disconnecting and then complaining about the firmware?
Thanks!!
Marco

Hi Marco,
Sounds like typical symptoms we have seen with some USB3.0 hosts, particularly on Windows 7 and weak/old computers.
The message you see in the UI ("firmware update required") is an artifact where the version is incorrectly reported to be zero.
On one of my computers (Interl i7 920) I use a USB3 add-on card from ASUS that has a USB controller from NEC/Renesas, it has been a pain, some firmware/drivers for this card works better that others. Oddly the latest version works worse than the one before.
Once I updated the system to Windows 8.1 things improved a bit but still some issues.
On the office PC (i5-3570k) I saw occasional disconnects when running Windows 7. Once I upgraded to Windows 8.1 it works fine.
On my new system (i7-5930K) there are no issues at all (same device).
So the first thing I would to is to check for updated drivers and firmware for the USB controller. Second would be to consider updating to Windows 8.1. By the way, what is your computer brand/model?
