Hello, yesterday I was making some tests but the device kept disconnecting. Read somewhere in the forums that newer sdk was more stable, so decided to give it a go. Server starts ok (firmware ver 203 + "The eye tribe tracker stands ready). When starting out Eye Tribe UI, I only get: " Connection to EyeTribe Server Lost".

I'm on windows 8, computer is gateway laptop with intel usb3 port (according to peripherals settings.

Do I have to upgrade the firmware or did I miss somethibg else?

regards.

Hi Paco,

You need to make sure that the vendor (Intel) drivers are installed for the chipset. Yesterday, we had the same issue with a Windows 8.1 running an ASUS motherboard with the Intel chipset. It is a recurring issue that the Windows default drivers are incompatible/insufficient.

Let me know when you have double checked if this solves it for you.

Thanks Martin, unfortunately it seems I'm out of luck there:

Windows 8* has a native in-box USB 3.0 driver. Intel is not releasing a specific IntelĀ® USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver for Windows 8.

If you are upgrading Windows 7* to Windows 8, uninstall the Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver before installing the upgrade.

Operating System:
Windows 8*

This applies to:
IntelĀ® USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver

So on desktop, I would need somereccomedationson what card to get (current MB has no usb 3).

You might try disabling all USB power management functionality (by doing so, I was able to resolve a similar issue with the Eye Tribe tracker repeatedly disconnecting when connected to a computer running Windows 7).

There are two places where USB power management is configured: in the Power Management tab of the Properties window for devices in the "USB controllers" category in the Device Manager, and in the advanced power settings dialog (accessed through Control Panel > Power Options > Change plan settings > Change advanced power settings) under the heading "USB selective suspend setting".

This worked for me, but, as Martin noted, USB 3.0 is known to be somewhat uncooperative on Windows so it might not work under Windows 8.

Thanks for your tip Luke, I was able to connect a little bit longer period of time, however still disconnects.

Concerning windows 8 usb issues, I have access to osx (version 10.8.6 ), think eye tribe would work better there?

Or what would be the options / reccomendations?

Regards.

It freezes when I plugin the eye tracker on my Mac Mini. But it may be just me, other people seems not having this problem.
