[Resolved] "EyeTribeUIWin has stopped working" error

Hi,

I just installed the Eye Tribe Tracker software (V0.9.27) and when I attempt to start EyeTribe UI it raises this error:

"EyeTribeUIWin has stopped working"


By clicking to see details I get this (Windows is in Brazilian Portuguese):

I'm running Windows 8.1 64 bits. According to these instructions, I have .NET 2.0, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0 and 4.5 installed. The computer is a desktop PC (i7, 8GB RAM). I have an Asus laptop (i3, 4GB RAM) also running Windows 8.1 64 bits (English version), same .NET versions, but on the laptop EyeTribe UI starts normally. :?

Can someone help, please? Thanks in advance.

Hi Rafael,

We've seen a similar issue when running on Windows 8.1 as described here.

The quick fix is to manually launch the Eye Triber server before starting the UI.

A new version of the software will be released on Monday (Feb. 23rd) that addresses this and other issues.

Thanks for your response.

Well, I tried that and got the same error. Tried this:

- Running Eye Tribe server (normally) and Eye Tribe UI (as administrator)
- Running Eye Tribe server (as administrator) and Eye Tribe UI (as administrator)

Tried both with the eyetracker physically connected and also disconnected. That's weird because on the other machine (laptop with Windows 8.1) Eye Tribe UI starts fine without Eye Tribe Server running (the UI is able to start the server normally). Well, guess I'll wait for the new software release.

If you need more info that could help your development team, feel free to contact me and I will be glad to help, since I have two similar systems, where one is OK and the other is not.

Hi Rafael,

It's a little odd that it's working on one of your systems and not the other but we will figure this one out.

I just released the new 0.9.28 version which hopefully addresses this issue. I'd be interested to know how it works out for you.
