The Eye Tribe Tracker v0.9.21 released

Postby Javier » 24 Dec 2013, 11:40

We're proud to announce that we just published the first beta release (v0.9.21) of The Eye Tribe Tracker. The software package contains two modules: the EyeTribe Server and the EyeTribe UI.

The EyeTribe Server is in charge of starting the hardware device and providing eye tracking information through a TCP socket. Client applications can connect to the Server using this socket and get the stream of gaze coordinates.

The EyeTribe UI is provided as a sample application and allows you to start the eye tracking engine, calibrate the system to your eyes, and control the mouse cursor with your eye movements.

We have also released the SDK Documentation, please check it out here: http://dev.theeyetribe.com/general/

The C# SDK reference implementation is available on our GitHub: https://github.com/EyeTribe

The current version of The Eye Tribe Tracker is in beta and there are some improvements we are working on. These include but are not limited to the following:
- More tolerance to head movements (accuracy drops when user moves from calibration position)
- Improvements on trackability
- Optimizations for lower CPU usage (the CPU usage might increase when tracking is lost).
- Better USB detection support for the Camera
- Release of C++ and Java SDK wrappers
- Error fixes to the UI on Windows 8

If you find bugs or issues please use the Issues and Troubleshooting subforum to report them. We plan to release a new version of the software in January to address issues that arise when the first customers receive their devices.
