Mac OS X SDK

Postby bluedabedi » 10 Jan 2014, 17:01

Hi,

So i've been reading online about The Eye Tribe working on Mac now from some of the CES 2014 stories. Is this true? Where can we find the installer for Mac please?

Thanks!

As announced this week at CES, the OSX SDK will be released around April.

Definitely true, we're working on a native Mac OsX port of the software. It's still a couple of months out, I'll post a beta version as soon as we have it. The April part seems to have been lost in re-posting the news feed.

First priority is to deliver all pre-orders and fix the bugs we could not anticipate.

There's plenty of Apple hardware at the office. We love it. Our enclosure is matched to blend with the Macs. We've also got plenty of PCs (hand picked parts, aluminium chassis) but still on Windows 7. The 8 and 8.1 doesn't do well on the desktop.

Btw, the new Mac Pro is ground breaking in both form and utility. Sad to leave such platform without a great eye tracker, don't you think?

What where you planning to use it for on Mac OsX?

This is where the Tobii Eyex guys failed. I was on their forums asking about their support for other OSes, they seem to have a love affair with just Windows and didn't even have other OSes built into their scheduled... yet they already have their product for sale. This is what's going to set them back big time, they clearly don't understand the mass consumer market.

I have a mac and I'm planning to use it to assist with my development. Clicking around a program like XCode can drive a guy nuts.

Just a little update regarding the OSX version. We are progressing with this but a bit slower that projected, this means that we expect the first version to be ready somewhere in May. The initial release will consist of the eye tracking server only followed by the SDK (client and calibration samples).

I'll let you know where there is a first version that you can download and test.

I'm interested in alpha-testing as well anytime, on OSX 10.9.

I would also be interested in doing alpha-testing on OSX 10.8 or 10.9.

Thanks
